Today I started my 5 week Wednesday half day clinical in Worthington, MN. I loved it!!!!! The people there were really nice, the PT explained thing really well, he let my do my FIRST ULTRASOUND!!!, and I got to do the rehab with a knee patient practically putting my whole weight on his knee trying to make it extend all the way! It was really fun.. and they even told me that they would hire me once I am certified. However, I do not think I want to live in Worthington when I graduate ;)
Just thought I would share that exciting piece of info with you all!

Going the Distance
Flexion- Medial condyle Extension - Lateral condyle -- Brachialis - origin: Distal half of humerus Insertion: Ulna Action : Flexion ( NOT supination because it does not attach to the radius!)
What would you say if you knew these were my first thoughts this morning? Well this and more has been going through my mind all week. Why?? Because I have a huge test the day I get back to school next week! WE have to know all 52+ muscles of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand, their actions, insertions, locate them from start to end on your partner ( providing you put them in the best position to find the muscle), then we have to know bony landmarks on the skeleton. It is a lot of stuff to have to know and I am overwhelmed!!! So I decided it was high time for me to take a vacation, so I switched work around a little and made it so I can go to Minneapolis to visit Shannon from Sat.. to Tuesday morning! It was so much fun to see shannon and hang out with her. We did went out to eat and went shopping.. maybe spent a little bit of money :S ( Good thing I got a lot of money back from my taxes!!!) I did get some studying in.. so that was good. On St. Patrick's day I made Shannon and Brian the traditional corned beef and cabbage meal.. which I was surprised that they never had before~!!! Maybe it is just my family but I thought everyone ate that on St. Pats day :)
Now I have the rest of the week to earn some money.... and to study a whole lot :) Hope everyone is doing week~ :)
We even had green plates!!
YUM :)
haha me and Shannon are funny..... maybe funny looking ;)

"Feeling pretty good and thats the truth!"
It really is a great day to be alive! Today I had my last clinical with the Sioux Center Hospital... and it was pretty fun! I got to do a lot more... especially with the millions of in-patients they have in the hospital. I got to practice transferring patients from the bed to the a chair ( even one who has pooped every time they were transfered!) , designed an exercise program for a patient, and helped progress my rotator cuff patient to the next level of rehab!!! It is just so much fun... I can't express how much I love it!!!
My life has been BUSY!!! School is crazy... we have so much to do. Who would have guessed how many muscles are in the hand and arm to make it function how it does! It is amazing!
We also had our Dutch night last night! My friends and I are having theme nights, and so far we had Mexican and Dutch. My friend Judy is as dutch as it gets and she made some dutch potatoes.... they were interesting but I think it is an acquired taste!
Ashley eating the sloppy tacos!
Yummu yummy!
Margaritas-- have to be part of mexican fiesta!
Ash Shoveling in the dutch meal!
My and my food!
Then here are some random pictures of my life:
Me and my roommate Lindsey
Glad it is getting spring.. this was our door a couple weeks ago
SaVE ME FROM WINTER!! I NEED SUMMER!
Some random person came to our house and clogged our toilet and my brave roommate Sarah plunged it ( while brushing her teeth) what a brave soul!
Anyways, that about it for now. Next week is spring break and I am just going to work and study a whole lot! Weird not going on a major spring break trip.. but I think I will survive. ;)

"Whenever I'm around you, you got me thinking.. I like the sound of that"
Wow this weekend weather has been really nice... you know.. a whole 40*!!!!! I woke up Saturday morning and thought about what a nice day it would be for a run. So I got my running shoes on and ran all around Sioux Center. It was a good workout but now I am SORE! I gotta get in that exercise mode so that I will hopefully develop good habits for the summer when I am not too busy with school.
Also, the little ice patch at the end of my drive way has been slowly melting so I have been faithfully spending hours chipping away at the ice ( and water!!) .. which is totally not gone now. I think my neighbors think I am a retard trying to get my driveway perfectly ice free..
However now I have other problems...
My BACK HURTS!! I never had a good back but a mix of this ice scrapping and being a stomach sleeper has been taking a toll on the back . So I got resistant tubing that they use for physical therapy and I am going to use it to strengthen my back muscles and hopefully that will help. I will have to pull out my therapeutic exercise school book and look up all the exercises for my back!
Anyone have a good idea how to stop sleeping on your stomach?? It is such a bad habit and it is so bad for my back but it one of the only ways I can sleep!
Anyways... hope everyone is having a good Sunday:)
